Small, blank-backed cards with high quality photographs issued in Germany between 1933 and 1943. The cards came in packs (called Mäppchen) which usually comprised 10 cards, but a few sets containing six larger cards were also issued. 

Jean Harlow featured in 10 out of a total of 879 sets, and reconstruction of Jean's sets is complete apart from 287 where one card has yet to be identified; and 246/459 where it is not certain to which of the two sets the cards belong.

Within the unknown cards, one would presumably complete set 287 and another 10 should make up either set 246 or 459; however almost 20 unidentified cards have been noted. 

The surplus may be from other Ross formats, including cards issued in other countries, or cut from postcards comprising several pictures, and some examples of non-German cards will be shown under the generic set title "Ross Film Stars".
